Hey all, next weekend, the 21st & 22nd of August we'll be headed to our other two adopt-a-roads, Kingston Peak and Jenny Creek, for a combination of trail running, surveying, clean-ups, and possible Forest Service assistance. We have synchronized with the Boulder Ranger District and more details to follow on what, if any, we'll be doing with them. But in any case this will be another big club event this year to get out and engage with our beloved adopted trails, Jenny Creek and Kingston Peak; NO WE WILL NOT be rolling crushed trucks down a hill.

Activities will include at least 2 groups running trails- usually one crew on Kingston Peak and a another crew, on Jenny Creek. However, I will work out those details over the next week. We'll be doing the standard campsite surveys, cleanups, also looking for evidence of new route creations, etc. Similar to the Argentine Clean Up Day there may be some sort of greeter program that Boulder Ranger District may also want to do. More specifics to follow, but some type of hanging out at the bottom talking to the other users who came out to enjoy our trail this day, sharing maps, directions, tips for cool spots, info on the Club and TLCA, and trail etiquette. You can be involved in any or all parts of this. But this has yet to be determined.

There will also be camping- Saturday night after day 1 of clean up. We plan to partake in all types of family-friendly shenanigans and everyone is welcome and encouraged to camp out. We could also host a night run, or bring a mountain bike or motorcycle, do some hiking, but feel free to make a weekend of it.

This is of course open to anyone, and active members can use their participation towards next year's club dues, under our All Access program. And if you're new to this group and/or have never been up Kingston Peak or Jenny Creek, these are great trails to be a part of and a great way to get to know some folks in your club a little better, or meet some folks in the club for the first time. We'll meet at 8:30, try to roll out by 9:00, and you can be back in town whenever you need to be back in town. More details to follow, please post up your questions & interest.

Hope to see you on the trail next week.

You scheduled it the same day as the 40`s only run?
Unfortunately there was scheduling confusion. We polled this date and selected it before the 40's only run was scheduled. Regardless, there are a fair number of people that do not have 40's. I own a 40 (pictured) and will be on the cleanup run. If people so chose to skip the cleanup and attend the 40's only run then that is okay as well. I believe the 40's only run is on Kingston and we will be up there as well. However, I feel it goes without saying, anyone from the 40's only run can join us for the campout.

Update from Boulder County is: He spoke with our OHV Crew folks yesterday and they did have a few unauthorized routes they would like to try to curb the use of. So I will plan to have them working with you guys! Based on your message, it looks like Sunday the 22nd may be the work day vs. Saturday? They won’t be with you guys both day, so let me know!

I will have the OHV Crew do a volunteer Service Agreement (VSA) for just this project and I will have them do a Safety Tailgate session as well. You can just sign the VSA that morning and it will be valid.

Are you still in for this weekend?

I am not available Saturday so Sunday is the day for me, I will be prepared to do some work. Can you provide the meetup locale, time-8:30 leave at 0900, radio freqs, and any other info needed, as I haven't been on this one yet. Thanks for your help!

Okay crew - We will set the meetup spot for Rollinsville. Which makes the most sense. So plan on Rollinsville. Meet up at 8:30 AM and head to the trail about 9ish. We will meet on the east side of Hwy 119 on East Portal Road. Let's use the same radio frequencies we have used in the past on other runs. I will have a handheld HAM and an FRS radio.

HAM Frequency: RS#3 --147.420

CB Channel: 16

Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Yes... I think that would be best
Same place and time for both Saturday and Sunday?
Bring plenty of water and a lunch and plenty of snacks to stay energized and eat as you go. There may be some manual labor so have your work gloves, wear some boots, and bring a few trash bags.
