This was one of the best trails ive ever ran. Super scenic and the trail was a ton of fun! I went with some friends one of which was another rising sun member named daniel kap. We both had a awesome time seeing canyon lands national park

Looks like a great trip! Ive always wanted to do the white rim but haven't had the chance yet. How far in advance did you have to get permits, and where did you camp?

We got our permits last month, not too many going in the cold of February 🤣. We camped at Airport and Murphy campgrounds.

Wow. Spectacular! That trail is definitely on my to do list. Hoping to get there later this year. Would you recommend those camps?

My pops, brother and a friend did WR a few years ago over Thanksgiving. Stayed at white Crack and one other that slips my mind right now. Wish we stayed one more night to get more hiking in as it felt rushed. 2 nights wasn't enough! We Also did a night at devils kitchen. The best camp site I have ever stayed at... and we had the whole area to ourselves! I need to get back out there! Did you see any wild life? We ran across around 20 to 30 big horns that ran next to us for a few hundred yards on the first day.

Yes, We got to Airport late Friday night in the dark but when we woke up we woke up to some great mesa views. For Murphy we were at spot C with has an amazing panoramic view! We got to Murphy in the afternoon so if you wanted to do a little more driving you could probably stop at Candlestick instead.

We didn't see any big game animals, I did have a mouse that decided to use my 4Runner as a home Saturday night and treated himself to a couple of my peanut M&M's.....

So cool! Wanting to do the trail with our Tiger.
Question, what was that step/ledge like? Why are the guys out looking/spotting? Is there something about it or others that is difficult?
Thanks!

The 4runner in the pic is almost stock and doesnt have a rear locker so it was struggling to get up that step in the mud. We stacked some rocks and she gave it some skinny pedal and got up. The other 2 4runners and my land cruiser made it up no problem

Dum question.......It appears, on Recreation.gov, that there is NO available campsites for the rest of year (white rim campsites, March 9 - EOY) Is this normal?

Thanks.

They only release permits for 3 or 4 months at a time so i dont believe their posted yet. If you do get a permit for the trail. Highly recommend white crack and candle stick campground and murphy A or C
