Ok, I have Yaesu FT-2800 in my 80. It is floating on the front seat with other junk right now. Where have others mounted this beast? Do I just put this somewhere in my 40 and buy something with a detachable face plate?? Thanks

i had mine mounted on the side of the tranny hump with the cb before moved the cb in the dash with a normal stereo and got a 7800.
I bought the 7800 for precisely this reason -- detachable faceplate. I didn't really need the dual-band capabilities, but I wanted to remotely mount the radio. Otherwise, I'm sure it would be covered in spilled soda by now.
Will it fit INSIDE the console? That's another option, but you'll have to keep other crap out of there, so it has room to stay cool.
