Did you rebuild your steering box or did you have someone do it for you?

I took it to CARS Power Steering earlier this year. I forgot the owners name, but he made it sound like he was going to be closing up shop / retiring. Not sure if 'rona sped that up or not...

Installed my new rear DC driveshaft in the LX450. WOW! What a difference that thing made.

Had my drag link end stud snap off on my 80 series. Fortunately I was in a parking lot.

Also pulled out the broken shaft on the rear of my fj40. Was a pain to get out.

It was a clean break. So not too much shrapnel. I might pull the diff anyway to do some housing work while here.

A nice fall day to tinker around. I got this 60 5 years ago for a bottle of bourbon with a plan of parting it out. Its been parked since. I noticed the two aspen trees that I parked it between had grown and if I didn't move it soon there wouldn't be enough room between them to get it out. Put a battery in, some fuel and a little starter fluid and she fired right up. Moved it down to the lower part of the property till I start pulling some parts off of it.

GX470 driver's visor would blow the interior lights (dome fuse) when flipped down, Major surgery and the patient made a full recovery. I made the incision down the entire top of visor where it already had the seam. Then I pried it open. Pry open along the seam that would be closer to the back of the truck when in the up position. I pried the side by the windshield, which is actually a hinge. Oops. I was able to melt it back together,The cap at the end of the slide rod had broken off. The cap hold the contacts in place, These are the contacts that only allow the light to be on when the visor is in the down position and not slid down the rod. I put the contacts back in, reinstalled the cap, melted plastic to fix it in place. Then I discovered and fixed a broken wire.

How did this break? My theory is the broken wire went first. That it simply failed. Then the frustrated Lexus owner slammed the visor a bunch of times, and sometimes the broken wire would make contact and work, but they slammed it enough to pop out the cap.

Finished up my house battery setup with a Victron DC-DC charger and manually activated by a switch through a Bosch 75A relay. Also reorganized the area and modified the stock plastic shelf to hold the equipment a little nicer.

Victron stuff is nice! How about a source for that heating pad!

Pulled the engine and transmission out of my soarer in prep for resealing the motor, installing head studs, replacing clutch and putting a big single turbo on it.

Manual transmission cars are so much easier to work on. No cooler lines or atf showers.

also tire rotation, chassis lube and replaced reverse light switch on tranny ( took awhile to troubleshoot, only had 8.4v @ reverse light sockets, went through all the fuses and relays first then connections, then found the trans switch crapped)

Removed my high/low 4WD shifter from my 81 to give it some lube and love. Before it took both hands and help from a young boy to move the lever. Now shifts like butter.

Definitely glad I picked up a fish scale to check the knuckle/kingpin bearing preload. Going to have to send my finger in to get recalibrated as it was waaaay off.

I decided to go from a 5.3 motor to a 6.0 motor with my LS swap in my 80 series. I've been pulling heavy trailers a fair bit more than I thought I would. The 5.3 does ok but wanted just a bit more when towing. I'm going to do some mild port and polishing of the heads and put a aftermarket camshaft in. This should give me about 70ftlbs more torque and 100hp. Found a used Lq4 that I got to hear run before buying. It looks pretty clean inside.

I thought adjustable washer nozzles were akin to muffler bearing. Who knew they really are!
They go with the freshly painted hood.
I replaced the diverter valve too so it does not dribble on the hood when you spray the rear.

Got these parts from PartsSouq to try it out. They were faster and cheaper from Dubai than domestic even after $60 in shipping (other parts too). Something is wrong with the systems. Don't worry, more parts coming from Stevinson this week.
