My wife has a last moment trip to the UK on Friday the 29th. So my 5ry old and I are headed to Moab for some camping.

I have not been keeping up with Cruise Moab because I am a looser and have neither the right truck nor the right skills to warrant trying rob a better driver of a spot but it turns out I'll be there the same weekend as you guys.

I'm not looking to join the cruise, but was wondering a few things.

Does the Cruise have any kid contingent? Thought is might be fun to get my boy hooked up with some other kids while we are there for some daytime play.

Does the Cruise have a group camping location that might accommodate an extra tent? We are rolling in early afternoon and have no illusions as to the availability of camping spots up on the flats and surrounding locales. If not, do you folks have a spot you like that is off the beaten path? I will have the 4runner so I can get a few out of the way places.

Lastly, what's your favorite easy run? Fins n Things looks good for me and the boy. But not sure what else might be friendly for a 5 yr old.

Thanks all!

Matto.

Kid contingent: nothing official, but we have 40+ kids coming this year. You'll be able to meet up with lots of families at the Old Spanish Trail Arena.

Camping: yes, you can camp at the Old Spanish Trail Arena. Details here. We should be able to fit you in.

Family Friendly Runs:
Chicken Corners is a classic family run. Fins & Things is good too. If you can get into Arches National Park (reservations required now), that's a great place to take a kid.

Thanks so much Hulk! Appreciate the welcome to the camp. Possibly we'll see you all on Saturday afternoon. Have a good Cruise.

I usually try adventurous kids on Fins & Things. You can spend a full day for a kid there pretty easily. If they loved it, try Baby lions back on the way out

If that was too mush then I revert to Chicken Corners, Hurrah Pass, Gemini Bridges, Dead Horse Point, etc.

Tuscher Tunnel is very cool for a kid to see - not exciting 4x4 but still cool.
Mill Canyon Dinosaur interpretive site is also fun for kids.

Thanks for all of these! I'll check them out. The boy is going to have a good time I think.

I am a big fan of the Charles Wells Moab guide. It will provide a lot of awesome recommendations to try.

You can also find all of the trails on the website. It is a good place to research trails.

If you do Hurrah Pass and Chicken corners, I like adding Jackson Hole onto that trip.

Thanks Gun! I actually have all of his books and love them. Figured I'd do some cross referencing with the forum, his book and trailsoffroad. Looks like I have a lot to choose from for the boy.
