Cruise Moab trail selection opens Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 10 a.m. Mountain Time
Trail selection begins at 10 am Mountain. We'll be using the same waiting room system that we used for registration. Here's how it will work:

1. Go to cruisemoab.com Saturday morning before 10 a.m. and click on the "Trail Selection" link. This will take you to the pre-waiting room page. There is no advantage to being the first one on this page — just arrive before 10 a.m.

Note: The link to the pre-waiting room page will be added to the home page of cruisemoab.com by 9 a.m. on Saturday morning — it's not on the website yet.

2. The waiting room opens at 10 a.m. Everyone who is on the pre-waiting room page will be randomly assigned a spot in the queue. When it's your turn to select trails, you'll be taken to the Cruise Moab trail selection login page.

If you can't select your trails at 10 a.m. on Saturday, no worries. There will still be great trails available for you to select. We do recommend doing this as soon as convenient for a greater selection of trails.

3. Log in with the username & password that you created when you registered for the event. If you didn't write down your username & password, you can reset your password. If the reset process doesn't work, reply to this email and we will help you immediately.

4. Computer recommended: our new trail selection process will work OK on a phone, but there are a lot of trails to choose from. We recommend using your computer so you have a bigger screen.

5. Multiple days: Click on the tabs for each day and select your preferred trail for each day. The tabs look like this:

6. Trail info: You'll see a box for each trail that looks like this:

If you know you want to run this trail, click the Register button to select the trail.

You can click anywhere in the box to expand it and see all the details.
You will see:
  • Trail rating, description & departure time
  • Leader & gunner
  • Who is already registered
  • How many slots are still open
It's not required to do this, but it's nice to get all the info. That will look like this:

7. Selecting Trails: If this is your first time at Cruise Moab, we recommend selecting a trail for all three main days of the event: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. There are LOTS of trail runs options to choose. You don't have to select a trail for every day, of course. It's up to you.

We also have overnight runs that include 1-2 nights of camping. These start on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. These are entirely optional, but they are lots of fun and provide the opportunity to enjoy a multi-day experience that includes camping in remote areas.

You can pick as many or as few trails (or none) as you desire. If you know you're not going to run trails on a certain day, please don't pick a trail for that day -- leave the slot for another driver.

8. If you are a leader or gunner for a trail, you have already been added to the trail. You don't need to select it again.

9. Your trails: once you have selected trails, you'll see them at the top, like this:

10. Changing trails: You can click the Unregister button to remove yourself from any trail.
Warning:
if you remove yourself from a full trail, someone else may snag your spot — in fact, this will happen automatically if people are on the waitlist. So don't click the Unregister button unless you really mean it. Don't worry: there is a warning message that will pop up if you accidentally click the button (it takes two clicks to unregister from a trail).

You can continue to change trails after you do your initial selection. In fact, you can even change trails in Moab during the event!

11. First come, first served. Yes, we have a waitlist for each trail.
Some of the very popular trails will fill up fast. If you don't get a slot, you can add yourself to the waitlist for a trail. The waitlist will even show your position on the list (if you're #1 on the list, you might get lucky. If you're #16, don't hold your breath).

YOU CAN STILL SELECT ANOTHER TRAIL for each day so you have a trail to run in case a slot never opens up. It's not required to make a "second choice," but it's recommended. You came to Moab to go wheelin', right?

12. How the trail waitlist works:
If you are on a waitlist for a trail and a slot does open up, one of two things will happen:
  • If you selected a "second choice" trail, you will receive an email that your dreams have come true and a slot for your "first choice" trail is being held for you.
  • You will have 48 hours to log in, unregister for your "second choice" trail, and accept the waitlist slot.
  • If you don't do this within 48 hours, you will forfeit your opportunity and the slot will go to the next person on the waitlist. That will be a serious bummer, so you might want to check your email more than once a decade.
  • If you didn't select a "second choice" trail for that day, you will automatically be added to the trail and will receive an email telling you that you've been added.
13. Every trail we run at Cruise Moab is great. Seriously, read the descriptions and select a trail you've never heard of. It will be awesome, we guarantee it. (And when we say guarantee, this is not a legally-binding contract). We have amazing leaders and they will help you have an excellent day on the trail.

Alternate Trail Recommendations:
  • If you don't get Fins & Things, try Jax Trax or Cameo Cliffs.
  • Elephant Hill was full? Sevenmile Rim is full of awesomeness.
  • No space on Hell's Revenge? Flat Iron Mesa is an undiscovered gem.

New trails for Cruise Moab 2023 (read about them here):
  • 3D (rated 4)
  • Copper Ridge (rated 4)
  • Crystal Geyser (rated 4)
  • Deadman Springs/Point (rated 3)
  • Gemini Bridges to Long Canyon (rated 2)
  • Rusty Nail (rated 9)

14. Daily limits on each trail: We have strict daily limits on each trail. If you get a slot on a highly desirable trail, do not unregister unless you are very certain that's what you intend to do. If you make a mistake and someone snags the last remaining slot on Elephant Hill, we cannot help you. No amount of begging will help.

15. Days on which you don't want to run a trail: If you are not planning to run an official "Cruise Moab guided trail run" on a particular day, do not select a trail on that day. It's just that simple. You don't need to do anything to indicate that you are taking a day off or doing your own thing.

16. Returning to Cruise Moab for the 3rd or 11th time? Try a new trail, friends!
If you're a Cruise Moab veteran, we encourage you to select something different than Fins & Things, Elephant Hill, and Top of the World. We're offering 6 brand new trails this year that will be awesome. Try a new trails so the first timers can get a spot on the old classics.
