Rode the CT this past Saturday. Started at Molas and came out Cascade Creek. The most amazing 30 miles I've ridden in a long time. Absolutely breathtaking in more ways than one. :hill:

We were up at Molas a couple of weeks ago now. Art Hog and I tried to this section last September, took us 12 hours to go from Silverton to the first hut on the San Juan system and most of the time we couldn't see more than 1/4 mile. That sucked pretty bad. That cairn was about the time his chain decided to let go, which we should have taken as an omen.

ouch. we managed it in about 5 hours but the weather was perfect. thunder heads just started rolling in as we exited out onto 550. couple of major boomers and some lightning up on the ridge shortly after that.

no major mechanicals until i came flying around a corner and wrecked myself in a giant mud bog just below the rock cairn. somehow managed to sheer off the front brake hose at the lever. riding the rest of the descent with just a rear brake was quite fun.

Here's what it look like for us below the clouds and when it wasn't raining. :) I'll say this much, it was memorable.

I'm thinking about riding the Georgia pass section next month...Kenosha to Breck. I've gone up and come back down, but I haven't gone down the other side before. This molas section looks beautiful...is that the section near the Chicago basin?

Be sure to post up a Kenosha Pass day, I'd like to go. Either there or Monarch Crest in August. Kenosha is also a fantastic autumn ride when the leaves are turning. If you're down another option for Kenosha is overnighting in Breck.
