Haha no I was not aware of that :) Very cool! That puts it even more perspective.

Hows the interior Matt size wise for tall folk? I'm also 6'4. Bringing one of the R1S's to Central Oregon any time soon? Large network of charging stations here and you could hit up the East Oregon Desert & Badlands on the way ;)

I put down a pre-order on one of the R1S's and hoping that there is the large battery pack avail by the time I our ticket comes up in a year or so.

I'm not quite that tall, so it makes the Rivian look a little bigger ;) Here are the specs of the R1T and the F150 to give you an idea of how they compare:

Anyone else catch that good-looking Rivian in the Blue Origin launch today?

It appears that we will start seeing some R1T trucks in the real world next month. Also, some service centers are now open, but nothing anywhere close to Colorado yet. Ill admit I still like it 3 years later and am excited to hear about the buying and ownership experience in the coming months.

I am still excited to see it also... I also cancelled my reservation. Thought long and hard and it just doesn't seem like the right vehicle for us at this time. I have a feeling I'll have an EV some day though, just not this year, or next.

The valuations of the world are so beyond foolish. Rivian doesn't have a CEO like Elon Musk to distract shareholders with phantom promises. That doesn't bode well for this valuation. I love the Rivian products, but I believe great way to have 100k of Rivian stock in a few years is to buy 300k at the opening bell and wait. This IPO makes me wonder which investor wants to offload their share. It will be interesting to see once the lockup expires.

For a reference point Ford has a valuation of ~$54 billion and profitably sold 2.4 million cars in 2019. Ford also sells the F150. The most popular full size truck in the US.

What on earth is Rivian smoking to come up with that valuation!?

EPA range estimates are official - 70mpge and 314 miles of range. I usually fill up my Cruiser around 280 miles so it’s very comparable. Considering most people (like me) will charge at home overnight and wake up with a full “tank” every day, I think the majority of buyers will never have to think about range anxiety. As for road trips and wheeling, the infrastructure is quite literally being built around the clock, and in my experience finding a charger to allow for wheeling or trips has never been an issue. It will only get easier and more convenient from here.

One of my friends down in The Springs walked out of a Ford dealership where they were in the process of ordering an F150 because her friend messaged her about the Rivian. They now have their order in for a Rivian and are very excited about it. Not sure why they didn't go with a Ford Lightning since they were already planning to get an F150. I guess the Rivian is more suited for what they're looking to do?

Are first deliveries still happening this year?

Safe bet there. By 2023 semiconductor production might have recovered and auto companies will be able to open their factories once again. Or perhaps they'll have given up and will have started making F engines with points again.

Here's a fun fact......if you option/purchase the Rivian Off-Road Recovery kit with your new Truck/SUV, we make the bag right here in Colorado!

just curious why them partnering with an anti ohv group is exciting?

I believe it's possible to support conservation and OHV travel at the same time. None of us benefit from deforestation and climate change, and I think it's important to get involved in the causes you care about. I care about ensuring future generations can enjoy our planet, and that means a balanced approach to stopping things like indiscriminate destruction of the environment while also allowing for the hobbies we love.

This year the Silver State 300 time trials was cancelled because the CA county required a "dust permit" to race in the middle of the desert miles and miles from civilization. Just because it's EV doesn't make it safe from being banned.

Just saw my first Rivian RT1 in the wild at Moss Landing, CA today! It had a custom wrap that was mostly blue. I saw it pulling onto the highway near the Dolan Road turn but on the opposite side of the highway. No time to get a photo of it unfortunately. It was.... smaller than I expected. Looked really sharp!
