Sand Dunes/Blanca Peak area

[Caribou Sandstorm]

I am thinking of heading down to the Sand Dunes/Blanca Peak area next weekend.

Looking for some warmer weather, do some trails and maybe some fly fishing.

Does anyone know this area very well? Trail/remote camp site areas?

Or How about San Isabel the town? Lake Isabel area? St. Charles river? good fishing/Trails?

Lots of sweet camping between the Dunes and Medano Pass inside, or just outside, the Dunes Park boundaries. Won't be very warm there, due to altitude. Check Alamosa weather reports. Campspot 2.2 is our favorite - it's 2.2 miles east of the Dunes eastern border on Medano Pass road. Lots of wildlife and the bear boxes at the campsites are there for a reason!
