I must have been outside when it went out as normally there is a beep. TV, Internet, computers everything was working fine

The Oven, Heat Pumps and Dryer is the only thing not powered by batteries in a switch over. I have two large batteries that support the current draw.

I sat down at my computer and saw the web page monitoring my solar system showing only 0.68kWh in full sun at 2:30PM. It matched exactaly the usage and there was also a Red X over the grid.

That makes sense as the overage of what I need goes back out to the Grid and shutting that off would enable safety to anyone working on the line.

As an experiment, I cranked up the heat from 69 to 72. I got a commincation error(Heat Pumps off) and the system automatically switched to the Gas furnaces.

Now using and producing 2.62kWh

I let the house heat up to 71 and then set the thermostat back to where it was. Now using and producing 0.6kWh of power

The web page says at this rate with no sun or grid, the battaries will last 47 hrs. Being winter, it wouldnt last that long with Furnaces coming on, But the sun will come up tomorrow :)

You don't need the large battareis I have to run in a power outage with sun, any supported battery size will enable this. Battery sizing determines how long and at what load could you run. Key for me was do I want to limit the loads (Other than 220V) or be able to keep doing what we are doing with Heat (Gas). I do have one 220V outlet in the garage that is not disabled by a power outage. It just worked out that way as I did not load shed the garage panel (Seperate box)

Power went out at 2AM and came back at 4:00AM. I heard a clunk at 2, which would have been when everything shut off for a second and then switched to batteries

Nice to know we are covered even for longer outages

How much kWh battery storage do you have now Ken? I'm using portable EcoFlow Pro units right now when we lose power, but eventually I want to move to a whole home integrated backup like you have. The key reason why we haven't done it is our solar score is very poor with most of our useful roof area pointing or north or shaded by trees for most of the year, but I'd like the battery backup even if we have to charge them from the grid overnight.
