My weekend plans just went bust, so I'm heading up to Pickle Gulch on Sunday (I guess we could call it a last-minute Father's Day run?). I'll probably also run some of Dakota Hill, as there are some really nice views at the top, and then head back down using Apex Valley Road. I'll likely head to Cannonball Brewing in Golden afterwards for a few brewskis. I'll be bringing my 4-year old as well, so kids are definitely welcome. Details:
- Meet at the Pickle Gulch parking lot at 9AM (39.842831,-105.522758)
- We'll probably be back in Golden about 2PM, depending on how crowded the trail is and our overall pace. Probably have lunch at the top of Dakota Hill.
- Comms optional. I have CB, as well as a few handheld Midland FRS radios for those without comms.
- Stock trucks are welcome. I've run Pickle Gulch a bunch of times with a stock truck - good tire placement is necessary in a few spots, but it's definitely passable with a stock truck (though, I haven't been up yet this year, so we shall see...). Parts of the trail are narrow, so pinstriping may occur.
