The full size Bronco is amazing, and I would absolutely get one if I wasn’t getting a Rivian. The eventual EV Bronco may win me over! These were some Broncos (not EV) we saw testing on Loveland Pass last year.

If Ford were to bring some of the Bronco goodies to the Ranger I'd have to go that way. Geez, a 7-speed stick shift (6 street plus a 6.6:1 granny first) on 35" tires, front & rear lockers, 3:1 t-case, 4.70 axle gears and a factory crawl of 93:1.

Take my money.

But then they would only offer it with heated/cooled leather seats, a 14" center touch screen and a double cab with a 6 ft bed for 2.5x the cost of a base Ranger ;)

I believe that Toyota should be really concerned at the moment, but they seem to be in a state of denial. I believe that most people are saying what you are saying. The choice is either a Bronco or Rivian. Judging by Cherry Creek, the other answer seems to be the new Defender as well.

You know what's interesting is Ford lets you order the locker as a stand-alone option (X73). So you can build a base XL even with one. You cannot do that with Tacomas. You have to get a TRD Offroad or Pro to get a locker. And to get TRD OR you have to start with at least an SR5.

Ford offers a rear seat delete option (87A) on the SuperCab (e.g. the extended cab, XtraCab, Access Cab) which basically just makes it a big plastic box back there large enough for a fridge or a couple of drawers. You can't delete the rear seat in a 4 door cab as near as I can tell, only the extended cab.

They still offer a vinyl floors, too, since carpet is optional (16E). Some of the packages get it standard, like FX4 and XLT though. You can even get vinyl seats still, although there's no cost saving to delete the standard cloth seats so that truly does seem like a fleet thing to do.

You can even delete the box and get one delivered as just cab-and-chassis, which they called option 86Q. I'm pretty sure using 86 was intentional.

But they don't offer a stick shift on anything other than base XL 2WD regular cab. Everything else is automatics. Toyota also makes stick shifts hard to get, only TRD can even get them as options. From the base 2WD Tacoma SR up are all automatics.

So, yeah, I'd expect all the off road goodies to only come with XLT, FX4, STX, etc. But honestly the granny transmission and t-case would be cool but just a base truck + locker + the saved cash (the basic XL with locker is about $15k MSRP less than a TRD OR) = build it yourself anyway. Getting the crawler gearing would be tough since I'm not aware of anything like a Marlin Ultimate for Ford trucks. But man, $15,000 goes a real long way for a re-gear, a couple of bumpers and decent suspension.

I have one of these on order- 2dr Badlands edition, 2.7, auto, lux package with a modular top. I reserved mine the night they introduced them and I will see it sometime in........2023. You will start to see them on the road this month or August in Denver. This will be my first Ford.

For those who haven't followed this vehicle the Badlands is closest to a Rubicon and the reason I won't see mine for 2 years is because of the top. Ford chose one company to produce the hard tops for this vehicle and the manufacturing issues and subsequent delays has enraged the Ford community. The vehicles being produced this year and 2022 will be softops or MIC (molded in color).

I've always heard the term "86'd" but I never knew where it came from so I had to google it:

The term originated during the Korean war, a reference to the F-86 fighter jet; when an F-86 shot down an enemy plane, it was 86'd. The United States also has a Uniform Code of Military Justice that has an Article 86: Absence Without Leave, a.k.a AWOL. The term was derived from military shorthand.

We saw a Bronco out at Bill Moore during the girls run.

Build quality fears confirmed. Dealer plates and the driver inner cv boot had already thrown grease all over. Very sad as it is a really cool looking truck.

I *finally* got the chance to sit in a new Bronco today. Couldn't even test drive one because the only ones going through the local dealer are customer orders. This is probably the first vehicle I've ever sat in that my first response was "yes." Wow so much head room! And it felt really good inside. Everything in the right place.

Now if Toyota would try to compete with the Bronco... Wishful thinking.

There has already been issues with the engine eating their valves. I do believe that in 1-2 years, these would make sense so long as there is a warranty. It is necessary to give Ford time to work out the development issues though :D

There is one other item of note for me. The Cyber Orange Metallic Tri Coat color is probably one of the best looking colors on a vehicle for sale today. The photos don't do it justice. In sunlight, it is a very dynamic color that suits the lines of the Bronco Amazingly well.

I saw a brand new Bronco at the Jeep dealership in Lakewood in the "trade in" spot right up front. Guessing the guy was a proud new owner of the Rubicon Gladiator sitting next to it
