Motorcycle insurance

I pay around $45-$60 every 6 months to insure my motorcycles. I called today to switch out one Yamaha for another, and also get the DR set up. Then was told that insurance on the DR would be $120 every 6 months.

Anyone know why that one would cost so much more? It's not the CC's, as I've had street bikes that are way bigger, insured for less. Would an older bike need to cost more? What are you other guys paying for bike insurance? Anyone else with DR 650 insurance experience?

I've got a 2011 Yamaha Raider that is 1900cc and I pay 190 a year for it. When I bought it 4 years ago it was around 350. My 2016 ktm 300xc costs me about 195 a year and it's not street legal.

Ok maybe this isn't as bad as I thought... I thought she said $120 on the phone, but looks like it's closer to $100. here is the quote:

Now I wonder what group 37 and what group 35 mean.. need to find some other policies I guess.

But I swear when I had a KZ750 my insurance was dirt cheap.. and it was older and more CC's than the DR. That was about 12 years ago though, ah well. time to get legit
