Moto resto, what is going on here?

This is a pretty cool video of a resto on an old rusty motorcycle. About 6 minutes into it, it gets a little weird. What is he doing? Is it electroplating? Is that lead or cadmium from the batteries?



The oil quench on the nut and the copper plating is cool too.

Looks like electroplating to me (With the hand piece connected to the + it should be the anode so plating not de-plating). Commonly called brush plating when you're not immersing the part in a bath but using a wetted electrode like that.. Not sure what he's plating, maybe zinc? Hopefully not Chrome?

Some ingenious diy steps for sure in there.

Ha, wondering why zinc under the paint for the wheels then see the test ride in the snow.. corrosion is probably an issue for this dude.
