Moab Repeaters

I know we have several people/groups that will be heading out to Moab in the near future.

Can someone stop by the Radio Shack in town and find out current information on the local repeaters?

It is my understanding that for the last couple of years, we have not been able to access them. Are they no longer online? Have the tones/frequencies changed?

Your assistance is MUCH appreciated!

I looked the map provided in the Safari thread and added 3 repeaters to the list I included in the Yaesu VX-7R thread in the members section. I will look when I get home and post them or you can serach the Safari thread and find the 3 sites that cover Moab, mostly on the edges.

Be nice to know if there are more though

147.080 (Hanksville) Shuts down when no local traffic. It must be keyed to power up and access Sinbad.

447.400 (Monticello) shows as Closed on my Utah repeater guide.

My repeater guide is from 2005/06, so it's obviously old. Back then they were shown as open access repeaters, but the autopatch was closed, IIRC.

I just confirmed with the 2007/2008 TravelPlus CD. They're no longer listed as Open.

Navajo Mountain

I received this from Jack, a fellow ham we met on one of our Hole in the Rock trips.

"The repeater you mention is the one on Navajo Mountain. It's probably the most predominant land feature along Lake Powell (to the South West). It serves pretty much all of the Lake Powell area including Page, AZ. The frequenty is 146.90 minus offset. There's no PL tone to my knowledge.
However, be advised that it may be temporarily off the air. I was in the Lake Powell area doing some wheeling last weekend and the repeater would not kerchunk.

For other repeaters in Utah you might want to check out the Utah VHF Society's website: http://www.ussc.com/~uvhfs/.

There are repeaters on the Henry Mtn range, the Abajo Mountain range (Montecello area) and many are linked. The UVHS website can give you lots of details.

The UVHS site shows that the 146.9 repeater in Moab has a tone of 88.5 (assuming we're talking about the same repeater).

It seems that a few repeaters in the area are no longer open/operating.

We have a few club members out there this weekend. Hopefully they'll test the ones we *think* are available and report back.

My records show that 146.610 (Monticello/Abajo Peak) and 147.080 (Hanksville/Mt. Ellen) are the only Sinbad-linked repeaters in the area. Does this correlate with your knowledge?
