Knocked my steering wheel out of alignment today.

Had a blast on the noob run today but towards the end I hit something hard enough to knock my steering wheel out of alignment. Its about 1/4 turn to the right now. Does anyone know how this happens and more importantly, if it's dangerous? Vehicle is still aligned and tracks perfectly despite whatever nos going on. 2008 4runner V8.

Ahh bummer man. Probably not dangerous, but I’d get it checked out. I would guess that an eccentric got moved or a tierod got bent.

Check the alignment "locking" tabs on your front lower control arm eccentric bolts, it's not uncommon for them to get bent open and allow the eccentric to spin. Happened to me on my FJ Cruiser. You can get new alignment tabs and have reinforcements welded in pretty reasonably.
