Seems like there are cheaper options for a windshield and other substitutes like the Sunbird?

Got the pump trifecta completed now with the addition of a 12v fluid pump for the t-case cooling loop.

Put my wife to work she got the heating elements out of the LEAF seats ready to get installed in the Land Cruiser! Saved the switches also.

Are you going to install the electric heater from the leaf into the cruiser?

Are you working towards a "dual motor" 80?

No just collecting more parts and some I'm going to turn into $$$. This is a 2015 I'm really holding out for a 2017 30kwh for my final battery. I'm going to use this battery to test my LC and hopefully spin the motor before I sell it. @nakman home solar battery storage?

Yeah that's a great idea. but I want home battery storage that I can drive around... not sure we're there yet.

For what it's worth, I've seen some proposals to use Nissan Leafs as driveable battery banks for storage on 10-100 MWh sized microgrids. We're talking a hundred or more Leafs parked around a large industrial facility where they'd be used on-site to go between areas and then also be used as battery storage. The last proposal like that I saw was a couple years back so maybe it isn't cost effective anymore versus just installing fixed battery storage at that scale.

Looks like there are some consumer devices that are starting to come out to do that, too: https://wallbox.com/en_us/quasar-dc-charger

If you drive your battery away every day while the sun is shining, how do you charge it??
I think with the bigger Leaf storage proposals they expected some large percentage to be plugged in most of the time. It probably wouldn't work so well if you had one electric car you drove away every day when the sun came up and came back when the sun went down.

Well unless you had this ride...

I'm going to need to install my new windshield in the Electrek in a few weeks, does anyone have experience with windshield installs? Looking for a buddy who would help me for some beers and stories vs. hiring a windshield shop. I figure this ain't your normal Honda Accord and I don't want to have some windshield monkeys screwing around with it on a deadline.

I'm going to work on getting the old windshield out with guitar string, that seems to be the best method. Anyone know a windshield guy who likes beer?

Here are some recommendations from the group!

Wish I could help, but as you can see I failed 🤣 … and I don’t want to do it again!

Driveshaft day! Bill at Englewood Driveshaft really came through. He knew exactly what I was talking about and was able to build just what I needed. The real test will be driving, but so far it looks like it'll get the job done! There is one problem though, one of the yokes is off a Jeep...

You could say things are getting serious.

Made up my high voltage cables with @DomOfTheDead's help.

Braided the motor wires for better efficiency, less EMI and stuff like that.

Tape, heatshrink, conduit, and more tape to keep everything safe.

3D printed parts came out pretty good. Need to adjust the text a little then I will print the final versions.
