I am interested in a Kenwood TM-D710A with detachable control head that will go into my '40. I can secure the transceiver in the Tuffy box, but am concerned about theft of the control head with only a soft top. I would really like to mount the control head outside of the Tuffy box for convienance. Can anyone comment on what they have done? I saw the Radio Dave video and really wonder how he sleeps at night with all that gear in his Cruiser.

I am not worried about parking my '40 at home as this is plenty secure.

QSL, QTX..?

The control-head is very easily removable from its included mount.

1. Unplug cables
2. Press button on back
3. Lift control-head up

You could probably simply stow it when not in use.

Thanks Hants. I thought it might be as simple as you suggested based on the manual I downloaded, but appreciate the confirmation.
