I've been watching the promos for this new Ford Lightning F150, for you guys know a lot more about EV, what do you think about it?

I'm no expert on EV's but I think the Lighting is a HUGE step towards making them even more commonplace. There aren't many vehicles more ubiquitous than a Ford truck. And if the Lightnings are manufactured in a way that's remotely similar to typical Ford manufacturing practices, it's probably going to bring the prices down on all EV's.

Name is completely sacrilegious, IMO. Zero interest from me for that reason, petty I know.

Great design but agree with IoN6 about the name :) could invent something much better. At the same time it will be interesting to see the first tests of Ford Lightning.

I think the name is actually fitting on this truck, Lightning...electricity... The electric Mustang now that certainly is sacrilege.
A 4 door mustang electric crossover🤣

I've seen a couple Ford Lightnings running around my area (Monterey, CA) in the last two weeks. They have an extremely unique look at night that I love. Whoever did the headlight/running light styling at Ford needs to get a bonus.

I saw one on I-25 yesterday and I agree that it's a very sharp truck but I'd rather buy something more unique, like the Rivian. Doesn't matter tho, I have two kids in college.

But if you had a Rivian, you'd be the coolest father at dad's weekend on campus!

I love the OG Lightning!
They should have named the EV truck something else, same with the "Mustang Mach E" thing....

Pricing is still really high IMHO. If you order a stripped down work truck it’s not bad. But you add a leather interior and the appointments that accompany that and it’s 75K in no time. I’d love one but still can’t justify it as my daily driver economically.

City of Durango is planning to move the fleet over to them for 2023.

I am really, really looking forward to seeing more and more EVs put to the test like this. Regular people just trying to get their job done; will the batteries last through the work-day, will the chargers be reliable enough? Right now only 1% of cars on the road in the USA are electric, by far the most in the history ever, but still only 1%.

Around here in Monterey, CA, where there is an absurd concentration of wealth, it feels like 15% are EVs. Yesterday I saw a Lucid Air, several Rivian trucks, and a whole pile of the more common EVs (teslas, Hyundais, etc.) Just driving around town.

It's really fun car spotting here!

We have a ton of Teslas running around Durango. In addition to direct sales one of out independent used car dealers really likes them and always has one or more on his lot for sale. A couple Rivians and others but Tesla is the primary.

Of course when the city announced its plans the haters came out of the woodwork. But for municipal fleet service they should be perfect. Time will tell but the person in charge laid out some pretty good data on distance traveled by the current fleet. I’m curious if our grid can handle them in the long run. My power constants trips at my rural home.

Just saw yet another Ford Lightning. There must have been a full semi of them come into town in the last week or two.

The town of superior has a few tesla in their fleet. I see them parked at the town hall on occasion... right across from the testla dealership
