I need to pass emissions in my '96 80 series but my catalytic converters are toast. Does anyone have a known good pair I could use to pass and then I will return them to you? I can do all the wrenching and throw in a 6 pack for good measure. Thanks in advance!

That's pretty funny... Never heard of people borrowing catalytic converters.

I passed on a single aftermarket one. As long as they don't do a visual that is..

Yeah, normally that's what I would do but this vehicle is going to get an electric drive conversion so I just need to pass to get plates and registration and then I will pull out the engine and everything associated so you can feel warm and fuzzy about it too! I'm not just openly planning on driving a dirty vehicle!

Well it's funny how the world works I bought a welder so I made myself a cat. Will bolt up to any other 96-97, maybe other years too. Anyway I will see Monday or Tuesday if it passes emissions and report back. This is my 2nd ever welding project please don't judge too harshly. If it works obviously it's available to anyone else in the club to use.

Wow man, nice work! And good numbers too for that matter... how many miles on that engine?

No clue, there are 324k on the chassis but the engine has a different VIN. It runs good though and will live on in another vehicle.
