I can move my seat forward and back just fine, but can't seem to adjust how much it leans back. I feel like a "tuner" driving while alll laaaaayyed back. Is there something I'm missing to tilt it forward a little. OR...I might just shim up the rear part of the bracket to give it a little lift. I dunno...all I know is I'm kinda uncomfortable.

I'll try to snap some pics tonight so see if that's normal and and I'm just a shrimp. (yeah, I'm aaaallll of 5'7).

OH...from what I know...stock seats, brackets, etc...

thanks.

I think the FJ40 seat is one position only. I've been thinking about how to remedy this as well, and am thinking that four 1/2" steel spacers with holes drilled in them will solve the problem; stack two together to raise the back end 1", or if that's too tall use just one to raise it 1/2". I think the bolts back there are M12, so you'll have to pull them out and get some longer bolts at AAA Metric or your other friendly metric fastener distributor where JIS is available.

I kinda knew....

...that you'd say something like that! :thumb: do you know anyone nearby with a welder in case I need to fab new seat mounts? ;)

It IS getting close to winter, afterall...hey can you shoot me some more info on yours? I remember liking the comfy seats in your 40.

PS and seat fix have come to the forefront of what's next....I'll be taking notes on your mini-setup.

Matt is right, 73-80ish buckets only go forward and back. I believe somewhere around 81? they had a reclining capability. Oddly, I find the bench 40/60 seats in my 71 more comfortable than the buckets in my 76, probably because of the nice springs in them, especially driver's side. I've read that some *J70 series were available with air ride buckets.
