Hey all, just wondering if we had any plans for a father's day run? I don't want to step on toes or anything, @Rzeppa usually leads this run but I know things are busy! Any big plans for us this year Jeff? 😁

With both my boys (and Robin's oldest) driving their own rigs now, I can't think of a better father's day than wheeling with them and a bunch of rising sun folks! ❤️

Very interested!
We're leaving town on Monday morning after Father's Day, so overnight camping was ruled out. Wheeling in the mountains is just as fun!

Starting in 2000, I led the annual Father's Day run up Spring Creek trail. That trail got so torn up and harder and harder each year to where at first we required a minimum of 33s and a locker, and then started doing Barbour Fork instead. One of the features of this run was to have a trailhead not too far from the metro area. Now my understanding is that Barbour Fork is partially closed, what I've heard is that part of the trail goes through private property and I guess the owner decided to close that down. Does anyone know if Bill Moore Lake is open yet this year? We just got a bunch of snow last weekend. That trail is a winchfest above timberline and I'm not sure that's such a great idea.

Trails Offroad trip report from Bill Moore Lake on Friday:

"Visited: 05/30/2025
Got up to check point 9 just like the previous guys. I camped out at that spot and hiked to check point 14 the next day where the snow banks are still 8+ feet deep I’d say 12 feet max. If you have a winch and a team of pals with big tires you could get up to check point 12 for the amazing view but anything past that is not realistic. Had amazing fun and it was pretty tough but doable in a 1996 tacoma on 31’s. (The one photo of the snow back is between 12 and 14)"

Check point (Waypoint) 9 is the spot where Red Elephant Hill splits off.

I think I would prefer something a little less challenging :) Connor is driving his pretty stock 4th gen 4runner.

@Rzeppa are you interested in leading a trail for Father's Day? You led my first every Father's Day run when I first joined the club.

Did Switzerland trail last weekend in the Troopy it is pretty mellow without any real risk to a stock truck. Also I believe the big elk meadow trail is also snow free. It's a bit more challenging but still little risk of damage, and you can drop down into Lyons and get some cold beer and good pizza at the main stage brewery.

Good idea! I will volunteer to lead a father's day run, let's just figure out where. It will be me and Connor and Tyler and maybe Robin's oldest

So what about a Saturday run for father's day? Found out that Ty is going to a concert on Sunday for his girlfriend's birthday. Maybe more people could come on Saturday??

Depending on this weeks wrenching, I could be in for field testing my "new" 3rg Gen 4Runner...

Looks like my oldest and I are heading out somewhere Saturday morning. Might head out with my youngest on Sunday morning. Of course they are both not available the same day. :) Someplace close and not too snowy, Slaughterhouse? or??
