Open invite.

Managed to put a little over 600 road miles on the new bike so far. Next week I’m going to hit Section 4 of the Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route (COBDR) from Buena Vista to Gypsum, Co. To get some “dirt/mountain pass” miles on the bike. I’ll camp somewhere in the middle on day 1 and be home by the end of day 2.

Tentative plan is to meet in Buena Vista at 10am on the 29thand head out. Ride the San Isabel Range. Hit Leadville, gas up, grab a steak to cook on a campfire and camp up on Hagerman. Head out the next morning to Gypsum, grab lunch and then hit 70 home.

Kinda excited but, being a new bike kinda a little apprehensive…..but, that’s what it’s for!

Lmk if your interested.

Cheers

looks like a great trip Paul. wish i could join but I need to get my 60 fixed and my camping gear sorted so I can head out on the 1st for snowmass and then on to Ouray for the SAS. Maybe next time.

Please note. This will be a relatively easy ride. No crazy single track stuff. I’m breaking this bike in easy so not looking to set any land speed/longest jump records.

Cheers.

How do you like your T7 so far compared to your past bikes?

It's amazing. It's a completely different bike compared to my Gen 1 KLR. Fuel injected, twin cylinder, real suspension components and yet still relatively basic with lengthy service intervals. This will be my first off-roading with it and the only thing I'm a little nervous about is it's twitchy throttle response. Meaning, you give it the smallest twist and your going....so, on technical trails I'll have to really pay attention until I get use to it.
Happy to show you the bike if you have more questions.

Nice. I've seen them and almost bought one that a local guy was practically giving away. I've never seen one like yours though. Was that a special edition?

It's the Tec Black T7. They only made them in 2021-22 with a little over 500 each year imported into the US. Not really a Special Edition since they're identical to the Team Blue, gray and white editions but, it's the model/color I fell for and spent almost two years to find one.

After this week it's no longer "pristine" !

Home again. Time just flies when your out in wild. Just spent two days knocking the "New" off the T7. It still amazes me the amount of Colorado back country I haven't seen and how incredibly beautiful it is.
I also was lucky to run into some fellow Adv Riders in Leadville and had the oppertunity to stay the night in one of the 10th Mountain Huts on top of Hagerman Pass. What an absolutely stunning place!
Other than a couple of mishaps (very wet water crossing, layed the bike down twice, unsuccessful rally jumps, etc....) due to learning how this bike runs on the trails I absolutely love it!
Also managed to field test a couple new ATC Pannier gear bags I designed for this ride......gotta say, they worked out great....."gear built to outlive your adventure!"
