Along the lines of the weekly club net, if anyone wants I'm generally listening (and doing some talking if the subject is something I can contribute) at drive times. Usually for me that's 6:30-7AM and 4:30-5:30PM. I monitor mostly the 146.805 repeater and have the other side scanning simplex and a few repeaters (145.145, 145.310, 146.805, 146.940, maybe another one or two). The 146.805 is pretty lively, so there's almost someone on during commutes. Maybe we could also say 146.460 and listen for calls?

I'm usually listening to K4KR (Kenny from Tennessee) and the group in the mornings and jump on with KB0WGM (Reese from Pine Junction) and the group on the 147.225 in the afternoons. The afternoon group is a real good bunch of folks that have the art of talking about nothing down pretty good. This afternoon, I chewed the ear of KD0BFE (Randy) about the debugging process I'm going through with my ignition system.

I like your idea of seeing if we can get a Rising Sun group going during drive time. Because simplex would be hit/miss based upon everyones location should we target a specific repeater?

That is the 146.805. There's KC0RPS (Jim), KD0CIC (Amanda), N5FGV (Ed) and a couple of others. I think K0UBN likes 145.145, although that's also a pretty popular repeater.

I usually listen to 146.805 during drive times, but my drive times are from 4:00AM to 4:45AM and 3:30PM to 4:30PM, so I really won't cross over with you.

Someone left the 146.805 IRLP link on to somewhere this morning, and I almost got to talk with another station(don't know what his QTH was) but the link dropped due to no use for the past 15 minutes.

When I was installing Bruce's(W0DW) Icom 706MKIIG into his FZJ80 with a Hi-Q 5-80 antenna, I was almost a regular on the RAG chew group(Rotten Apple Group) on 7.238 MhZ. They were on between 6 and 7 eastern time, which was just as I was getting to work mountain time. I tell you what, if you want a GREAT mobile HF "screwdriver" antenna? Get a Hi-Q. They work AWESOME! I was getting 20/9 reports from all over! Bruce used it during CM2007 and was talking with folks allover the country when we ran the Elephant Hill trail.

I'll keep listening on both 146.805 and 145.145.

You guys have had me curious and snooping. It seems like the 145.460/147.225 repeater set up is pretty clear most of the time. The two freqs are linked or un linked by anyone. They also have autopatch! Might be a great RS standard freq! Linky...

I'll give the CRA repeater at 145.460 a try tonight if it's relatively quiet.

It appears that for you in Southside 147.225 is very close and the two are linked

147.225/145.16/145.46/224.98 are all linked

The 147.225 (South west Denver) and 145.46 (Boluder) are also linked with 145.160 (Colorado Springs) so the cover a wide range. This is the repeater that I'm usually on in the afternoon. I can be very busy, but the group is very friendly. If you check it out, don't be shy about throwing your call sign out and jumping in.

Just had to run a bunch of errands. I had the 6.805 on one side and the 5.460 on the other. Reece (85 year old) and Art (old....didn't catch his age) are the longest yakking guys I've heard to date! Reece, I learned, has had a Tech license for 11 years now and is trying to do the practice exams to bump up to his General. Art is there for support but he is working on getting his Extra. I bet the entire sum of their ragchew could be summed up in 2 paragraphs, although they have been transmitting for well over an hour! This was on the 5.460 machine. In the meantime the 805 was quite the entire time! Sorry Ricardo....don't think I can handle much more of the Reece and Art show! :roleyes:

Been doing bookwork and just had the HT here on the desk listening. I heard it late or I would have written details down but on the 145.460 (107.2) a guy is going to call up a node soon so his kids can talk to Austrailia! Might be pretty cool to join in or at least listen! I'm sure Ricardo will be all over it!
