Would you like to help protect and restore a forest area impacted by motorized recreation? Please join Wildlands Restoration Volunteers on Sep 23 for our LAST volunteer project in the mountains for 2006. Along the hike to the site, we'll pass by the areas we've restored over the past two years. The results have been amazing! See below for more details.
CARNAGE CANYON FOREST RESTORATION
DATE: Saturday, Sep 23; Rain backup date: Oct 7
DESCRIPTION: Forest habitat along Forest Road 286, in Left Hand Canyon, was severely impacted by years of unmanaged motorized recreation. Over the past two years, Wildlands Restoration Volunteers completed the first two phases of an award-winning restoration project benefiting dozens of acres of forest habitat and downstream water quality. In 2006, we will continue this success in the headwaters of Carnage Canyon. Heavy equipment will prepare the site. Fencing will be installed to protect the area. Volunteers will seed multiple areas, apply erosion fabric, and spread straw mulch to revegetate the area and prevent erosion. We have been pleased to collaborate with Trail Ridge Runners and other motorized recreation clubs, involving their members in this important restoration work. Number of Volunteers: 90. Min. Age: 12 with an adult.
