Had a couple of Lagavulin 16 drinks this past weekend, loved the strong peat and smoke flavor, smooth and enjoyed it neat.
Was concerned it was too much for the birthday party I went to so picked up Aberlour 16. A little less peat and smoke and not as smooth as the Lagavulin.

Come on Tim, the line was crossed long ago when Rye, Wheat, and other whiskeys were mentioned in this thread...You have to admit, it's great to see some new bottles surface to try...Even if they're not Bourbon...

I just opened a bottle of Hibiki myself. I drink it when I'm in Japan for work, but finally found a deal on it here in the states. I like it.

Ok...I’m feeling a little spoiled this morning. My wonderful wife took me out last night to “Hearth & Dram” for my birthday dinner. She said she picked the place because they have a wall of whiskey. She was not kidding!!! They have like 200 different whiskeys, many of them bourbons.

For my birthday, I selected....drumroll.....

Blade & Bow 22yr Limited Reserve

Wow! I’ll just leave it at that....

Spent a little more than normal for a bottle of Michter's. I love how smooth this one drinks.
Michter's makes a really good rye as well. It's not quite as spicy as some rye's out there.

That Old Forester Rye is awesome - especially for < $25. Nice choice. And congrats on the magazine. That's cool!

I'm giving this one a try. Legent is a derivative of Beam/Knob Creek but with sherry cask aging, and then blended by some cool Japanese dude who does blending for Yamazaki and Hibiki, among others. I'm surprised that I like it, but it's pretty good. Soft and understated, and without the weird Jim Beam funk.
