I'm thinking to drive out Thursday night and have a day in GJ. Not 100% sure if then or Friday AM or PM. Who is interested to ride with me?

Forecast is 25-30 degrees overnight and 45 - 50 and partly cloudy by day.
Each morning should start inside a bit before moving outside.
Plan accordingly. Warm sturdy footwear. Layers.

Definitely have a good pair of gloves to handle equipment. I have been happy with this pair from Amazon.

Remove the velcro retaining strap. If your glove gets caught in the winch or a rope you want it to come off.

I plan to give these two pair a try also:

I'm having trouble focusing on work. I keep thinking about our upcoming weekend.
Nothing you need to do to prepare but show up with gloves, proper clothes, daytime F&B, and perhaps the desire for Grand Vista Karaoke at night.

That said, perhaps think on a specific stuck scenario that gave you difficulty. Things you have wondered about or wanted to learn or master. The weekend is for you. Do you want to learn about:
  • Stuck Assessments (IDPE), Safety, Inventory, Plan, Execute
  • Equipment and ratings – how they work. Rope, straps, lanyards, pulleys, shackles
  • HI Lift. Safety, lift, lift wheel, lift and stack, cast
  • Winching, Safety. Principles. Procedure. Pulleys.
  • Towing extraction. Flat tows. Traction and bridles. Kinetic. Using pulleys,
  • Recovery boards.
Open for discussion.

I tried to get to GJ tonight but nature had other plans. I'll leave Friday AM.
When is everyone else leaving?
Everyone staying at the Grand Vista?
