I recently changed the rack in my 98 and wasnt sure if anyone would want my old one before I toss it. I think it would be a good candidate for a rebuild because it didnt make any weird noises and steering still felt good when I pulled it. It was just leaking like a sieve at the steering column input shaft seal. And I didnt realize you could buy a rebuild kit until after I ordered a new OE rack.

Maybe here since I will have to do this at sometime and/or I can hold it as the club rebuildable. Curious, what did the new rack cost you?

The rebuild kit is probably 100 bucks, rebuild another 150 from cars power steering shop in Denver. At half the cost I'd just buy a new one.

Not so long ago people were sating the rack was $1200 new. I agree at $500 I will probably buy new. Still, maybe I'll rebuild this one for kicks or it will become a club core.

1200 sounds about right for an oem one. Mine for my Toyota soarer was 1600, I opted for the rebuild.
