I have two (yes 2) 2008 Sequoias where 4lo is not working…research indicates the vent tube cracks, water gets in…the usual. Looking for any thoughts on fixing vs. replacing actuator vs. driving it off a cliff. Going to be selling this one most likely (was supposed to be a project truck for one of my sons, he’s gone diesel) although I am struggling with that because 37’s are perfect. The PO built it on a rear 80 series coil with too short Bilstein shocks from Toytec and was told by a shop that it needed a new steering rack and other stuff, but it was the rear suspension bouncing and dragging around the front end after installing Dobinson coils and shocks.

This is the JF3A transfer case that I believe was only used on this truck, but Tundra folk report the same issue. If anybody has experience, even related like on a 200 series, much appreciated.

Keyfob is also not working although doubt those two things are related - a dealer looked at it and couldn’t program a new key fob so there is something more going on and it has a Toyota security system but no info on that from the PO. Knew this was an issue when I bought it (for a steal).

@sleeoffroad you guys are actuator geniuses I hope?

That would be solid - seems like the fully electric cases are doomed to some issue or another (also have the actuator leak in the 4th gen 4Runner case). Tundra guys purport that you can pull the actuator and fix it, different case but not sure if same fix.

I can get a new actuator for $700, but there’s no good info on this case if you have to split it to install - you do on the 4th gen runners. I hate project work on trucks that aren’t “projects”.
