For the past three years we've coordinated a week long Adv Moto/Camping trip to Moab and back. It normally starts in Nederland, Colorado and then travels via two lane, dirt track, mountain pass, trails to Montrose, Co and then across the RimRocker trail to Moab and then back via Telluride, Ouray, Buena Vista, Camping each night along the trail. This year will include a new portion of the RR and additional exploration west of Moab.

We're narrowing down the 2021 Rim Rocker Run dates for somewhere around the last week of July and/or the second week of August (note: these are tentative and for planning only, will post firm dates shortly).

This trip is open to any Adv./Dual Sport Bike capable of carrying you and all your camping gear for a week. We will not be on any interstate highways but, the bike needs to be able to run two lane posted speed limit for extended periods. While most of the trip will be two-track, off-road riding, mud, water crossing, maybe snow, etc.....there won't be any highly technical portions (boulders, steps, shelfs, steep climbs, etc.....).

As the dates firm up and interest develops I'll post-up a gear/supply lisy.

If you have any questions or interested, LMK. Cheers!

Watching for date. Is this going to be with the same support crew as your previous trip?

No. No Jeeps or Toyotas this year just bikes. Except, my wife will still be the rescue truck driver to do bike recovery if one goes down.

Looks amazing. I haven't done a long moto trip of more than 2 days since ~2003. If this wasn't such a crazy packed year, I'd figure out a way to join you, but I will already be in the area on a different trip.

Bike prep time! Started pulling it apart and checking, cleaning, tightening (it is a Thumper after all.....) tune-up and adding some new farkles. Also started my "to do" list so the trusty KLR will be ready for this year.

Forgot to update this run......it RAINED, it RAINED ALOT, we got caught in the 2021 Colorado Tsunami and ultimately had to cut the trip short by a couple days due to all the flooding, trail wash outs and mud slides in the south. All and all we had a couple great days (wet and cold) and hope to run it again in 2022!

Ahhh there’s nothing like drinking whiskey in the morning pantsless

View attachment 99011

Ah yeah, Irish coffee in your shorts. Doin' it for the 'gram!

While smoking a cigar.

:hill:

Looks like a great time Paul!

The cigar is to keep away those beef on the hoof that are looking on.

Love it! LMAO........Yep, I was chillin in dry shorts and jacket with some bourbon and a cigar after peeling off all my soaking wet riding gear. We camped above Marble, Co when the free range knuckle heads started coming around to check us out. Have you ever heard those As@#$&* start mooing at 3am in the morning and they're like 5 feet from your tent!?! We spent an hour getting down Schofield pass during a hell of a thunder storm. It got so bad due to the heavy rain that we had to walk the BMW down as I played the deadman anchor off the rear rack! The off-camber, muddy, slick, jagged granite portion just above the devils hot tub/waterfall was particulaly exciting! Then we rode the rest of the way past Crystal Mill and into Marble with non-stop rain. Ergo: Bourbon, cigar, shorts, jacket and cows.......

Yeah, those f@#king cows. In the late 70s we used to camp up above Boulder. One night while we were asleep one of them backed up to my brother's FJ40 and took a dump in rear end of his open truck. That's the last time we ever left the tailgate doors open at night in the woods.

Exactly! You never want to be around a cow(s) with IBS.......it'll ruin your paint job!
