Since there has been discussion on the forum about this run, I discussed it with our Event Coordinator and volunteered to Lead. Remember, in a 40 the best place to be is in the front :)

This is for FJ40, FJ43's, FJ45s, BJ4X variants

Date: August 22nd, meet up in Rollinsville at 9AM

Running Kingston Peak

Comms: HAM 146.430 ( 146.460 has had extra stuff on it lately)
CB Channel 4

Plan on Pizza and Beer in Idaho Springs for those that want to expand the fun

In 2015, the group also had an optional camping spot in Barbour Fork I don't plan on camping so if you want post up and coordinate the camping option

We will meet at the turn off of Hwy 119 and Rollins Pass (3 miles south of Nederland which is due west of Boulder), let's just stack up where the pic shows below.

I would like to go on this. I would probably like to camp as well, but don’t know the area. Only thing I need to do is get the 40 ready!

Someone want to be in charge of camping? I'll lead the run and then to Idaho springs for nourishment :) and then I will be heading home

I would be happy to be in charge of the camping. If there is someone who is more familiar with the area can give me some guidance when we get close that would be great, or maybe I’ll head up there earlier in the summer and check it out?

I plan on camping, along with probably a few of us from down south. Easier for us to camp up there the night before so we don't have to get up at the buttcrack of dawn to drive up! Probably camp Friday and Saturday nights...I can help plan this out as well!

Why do Risng Sun runs always have to be on Saturdays instead of Sundays?

For most folks it seems to work better. I bet if you put a Sunday run together, folks would definitely show up though. Sunday runs would work great for me when megan is working.

alright...put in for that weekend off! My plan at this point will be to head up Friday afternoon when I wake up and find someplace to camp.

New forum member here. I very much hope to make it on this trip this year.

I need to get my 40 back to Colorado where my aunt bought it new (at Stevinson Toyota) in 1977!

Welcome! Where's your 40 now? Got any pictures? :hill:

Thanks @MountainGoat! After my aunt passed away I brought the vehicle back to Iowa. It's sure "Nellie" isn't nearly as happy here as she was cruising the mountains in Colorado!

Couple pics at a county park nearby. One of my aunt my kids and I near hear home outside Golden, and one of the vehicle back in the day.

Welcome @Nelliefj40! The photos you shared are great! The first FJ40 that I remember seeing was a Freeborn Red 77, and that's when my Land Cruiser obsession started. I hope you can make it to this run! It's probably my favorite one that the club puts on.

PS: Who did the restoration on your 40?

Thanks @DanTheMan. Mechanical were worked on my LC4WD outside Minneapolis and the body work was done by a local ahop here in Des Moines.

I would have loved to do more than i did, but there was/is a steep learning curve for me. I did some small things and want to continue to learn about maintenance items/needs.
