Moved to the Land of Corn 9 years ago, can't believe its been that long... The 1st day here I spotted this tailgate far back in my neighbors garage and we struck up a conversation about old cars and trucks, which made me feel better inside (kinda), as I had left Colorado, my friends and the mountains. It was good to get some Toyota karma my 1st day.

This old pickup hasn't moved from his garage in over 10 years now. I've let him know a few times that if he ever wanted to sell it to let me know. He has a bunch of cool older cars, 20's buicks, vw van, Cadillac Eldorado, and a couple of Toyota pickups, including this one. He finally decided to clear up some garage space and we struck a deal. He's owned it for 25 years and this is the first time it's seen daylight in 10, although he kept it registered and insured every year. 👍

It's full of spiderwebs and mouse nests, and the brakes, clutch and radiator look dry. Tires were flat. I won't try starting it yet. It was resprayed 25+ years ago with a some questionable body repairs, but overall it's pretty complete and unmolested. Interior is very original. Really looking forward to getting this cool little Stout back on the road!

I guess this is the beginning of a "build" or "rebuild" thread? 🙂 wish me luck!

Wow Martin, congratulations! If it has the dome light, you'll have one of only a few complete original Stouts in North and South America! I sure wish mine was in that good of shape.

I for one can't wait to see what you do with this thing!! Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any Stout questions.

Damn, Martin! That qualifies as a barn find even though it was in a garage. Fun project and very cool how you ran it down. 👍

I was starting to feel that emptiness not having a mini truck. I've had almost as many Toyota trucks over the years as Landcruisers.

Is anyone else as disappointed as me in the lack of updates and photos in this thread?
Yeah, this is going to be a slow one as I'm working on the 40 still. ;)

First round of pics was 2 weeks ago when we rolled it out of hibernation for the first time. Today I actually "brought it home", which involved strapping it up to the fj60, dragging it out into the street and pushing back down my driveway.

Finally got a chance to start looking it over more carefully.

Dome light present, although discolored like most of the plastic bits. Headliner is a goner.

Original Denso heater and tubing is there, but I don't see any fan controls 8n dash. Tubes are pretty dry.

Passenger and driver vents. These are cool, they draw air from front grill through a tube under each front fender.

Most of the jack parts present. Tool kit missing though, bummer.

Seats in good shape!

I've heard that the door parts are similar to LV's?
