100 series tire size question

Not for me (I wish I had a 100 series!!) any-hoo, a guy at work has an '06 Cruiser and wants to start wheeling a little bit. He needs tires, so is wanting to get something a little bigger. (stock suspension). the choices for 18" rims aren't great, and I don't know much about those metric tire sizes.

I kinda thought he should get some smaller rims so he has more tire choices. Can you guys throw out some rim/tire size options so I can get him in the right direction? Oh...I think he'll be looking at the Revos or BFG ATs.

Another way to phrase that is, what size bigger tires are you 100 series guys running on stock suspension?

Is his cruiser AHC equipped? On mud, the common theme seems to be 285 is the largest diameter you want to do with a stock configuration, but I would be interested to hear others' opinions.

I think it does have AHC

...I'm assuming that the "automatic height doo-hickey"...if so, yes.

If that's the case slee has a switch that will lock it in the highest position, which would allow him to cheat and possibly go with a larger tire. Not positive about compatibility with an '06 LC, but it's something to look into.

295*75 r16's fit stock height and don't rub. 285*75r16 is much more common. I don't know the aspect ratio for 18's but whatever is offered 285*?r18 is the answer you're after. Nitto Terra Grappler's are all the rage with the 100 crowd. I just got BFG's at's to replace my nitto's. I think I liked the Nitto's better.

In other words. One or two sizes bigger than stock without issue. Later models are geared heigher at the difs so 1 size over stock is probbaly you're best answer.

Couple more thoughts. Lifts for the 100 don't go over 2.75 inches, same as AHC. If you lower the bump stops(limit travel) you can get 35's to fit. Otherwise you're in the land of 33's with or without the lift. ie. raising the suspension doesn't really let you run anything bigger than what will fit without the lift. If you are going to rig the AHC to ride in the lifted position all the time, you can, but add a Slee diff drop for sure.
