Continuing their streak as the worst post office in America, the Ned post office accidentally sent one box on to Parshall, CO. So I have one box of two so far. Hopefully I can gather the rest tomorrow, but I bet it will be later next week.

Hey there! I see my stripes in there! What is the best way to get them and pay you? I will not be at any upcoming meetings, unfortunately. Let me know what is easiest for you!

@JLTundra I live in Boulder Canyon, a few miles west of Boulder, and I work three days a week down in Denver on the 16th street mall. You are welcome to come up here if you like, or we can meet somewhere along my work route, or near the office, depending on the particulars of your day/residence. We could also make some sort of plans to meet somewhere on the weekend. We'll just have to figure something out in that case.

Payment wise, I can do paypal if that is easiest, or cash/check when we meet up. I could also do Zelle through my bank, or venmo through my wife's account. Pretty much anything is fine with me!
Best,
Abe

Thought I'd update the list just to keep things all out in the open. Cells highlighted in grey are completed, "transactions" for lack of a better word. We're still pending four meet ups & handovers, and two of those are already paid in full, so they are just awaiting their stripes. Having mailed a couple of these already, I am pretty sure the cost for mail will be $11.75 each if anyone wants to go that route instead of trying to meet up in person.
Best,
Abe

Abe, I think the mail option may be the best for me in lieu of the meet in person with cash game plan. Thanks for making that an option! I'll PM you again and get you paid.

I'm stuck at home recovering from covid and the temps outside were only in the 80's today so I decided to take a crack at installing the stripe kit on my fj60. I followed the instructions provided and it was actually pretty easy and I got good results. Although my kit was probably one of the simplest and cheapest, so I wasn't as concerned about screwing up. If I had gone for one of the $300+ kits I would have been a lot more nervous. That being said, now that it's installed I'll be curious to see how long it lasts. I'm guessing not much longer than any other sticker I've stuck to my windows over the years. I think it looks good, but I definitely wouldn't be putting one of these onto a truck with pristine paint or if you have expectations of it lasting more than a couple of years. I'm not complaining, just sharing my thoughts.

Let's see some more pics of them installed!

Finally got around to polishing the rust paint on my truck in preparation for the stripes. I did the Chemical Guys method in 3 stages. Some of it turned out pretty good, and some of it not so much - I burned through a couple spots. Overall it evened out the patchiness so I’m happy.

Before. Zoom in for maximum patchiness.

After. Much more even.

After. Note the upper hatch - that’s what color a lot of the side was.

The driver’s door still looks darker and that’s because I’m up against this, this paint checking.

Had some burn through under the cargo window. Oh well.

The other side of the truck had a respray on the front fender and both doors, so all I have to do is polish up the back quarter panel. It’s a patina rig so who cares, right? The lipstick will go on the pig stripes will go on the truck soon, maybe a week or so.

@JLTundra i realized I still had your stripes in our spare room, so I brought them to cruise Moab just in case you were here. Let me know & we can hook up! Otherwise, let’s make it happen when I get back.

Went ahead and did it:

I would not recommend this job for the faint of heart. Hire a pro. My results are 9/10, but it was tedious and took a long time getting there. Because some of my stripes were so small they wanted to lift with the top paper - no matter how hard I squeegeed with tools or my finger, they wouldn’t stay down. After lifting the top paper I mostly placed the smallest two stripes by hand and then hammered them home squeegeeing with my finger. I’m sure somebody with more experience could do this in less than half the time.

After all the work they are sticking well and do look good. I kept everything wet and got all the lines straight. I cut a couple sections about 1/4” too far back from the edges of the door, but it looks solid from 10’. I think the kit is quality but the difficulty is in how tiny some of my stripes are. A larger piece of vinyl might be easier to apply. Anyway, finally happy to wrap this up many months after @gr8fulabe got the group buy going. Thanks for doing this!

That looks totally awesome. It also looks like it would be a bitch to apply. (y)
