Going to run Spring Creek Saturday.
9ish at the trail head.

6 rigs

Not to be an Ahole but would prefer a group that is more "built" to keep the pack moving pretty quick.

Let me know if you're in.

1. Will, not a member (yet) first gen 4Runner on 37's
2. Me, @Notyourmomslx450 80 on 37's
3. @justin4045 40 on 35's
4.
5.
6.

The last time I ran this was in my brand new stock 2001 TRD Taco about 20 years ago. I have been wanting to run this in the pig but something always comes up, just like this time. I have two birthdays to go to and my daughters soccer game too.

is my rig too weak, or just the driver?

Driver's skill outweighs vehicle build. Walker Evans in a 2wd pick up will get farther than Stevie Wonder in a rock buggy.
But spring creek is tough on parts. Andy is just trying to avoid a lengthy day on the trail. I have run this trail 8 times previously and have seen body damage, broken steering links, broken motor mounts, 2 cut tires, broken u joints, a flopped D90 and a drunk local with his dodge halfway off a shelf road. All of these have made for long day on this trail. Be prepared is all that's asked.:thumb:

Sorry, but not sure who you are, rig details?

No problem at all. I was at the Monthly Meeting, Ralley and Bill More run this past weekend. I'll be pledging at next months meeting.
Live in Golden. Ive had a few Toyota/Lexus over the years. Most recent are an armored lc200 on kings and currently driving a 2010 LX with long ravel and 35s.
I wheel every weekend with my family for the most part. Just starting to join the community and tag along with others. Happy to provide my trail log Via DM if necessary

No offense intended and not trying to single out your comment. I meant my comment as a more of a statement. This hobby has seen a recent change as the amount of extremely capable vehicles on the market has increased dramatically. My point is that there is a tendency for folks starting out to go right for black diamond runs and not starting on the bunny slopes. This can make for an unpleasant experience if not prepared for it.

Damn. If I had the new sliders and belly plate mounted up I would be there. I think im cool enough to party.....

These dumb Rocky road sliders are kinda a POS design for the 80 and I don't trust them enough for a hard trail.

Sounds like the guy I saw on Medano Pass a few weeks ago.

All kinds of bling attached to his brand new 4Runner - awning, RTT, tire & Jerry can carrier bumper, maxtrax, rotopax, you name it the dude had it bolted up. Stock suspension, no sliders, no winch, factory highway tires on blinged out bronze rims. He told me “Yeah I saw this overlanding trail on YouTube and I had to check it out!” Dude was absolutely FLYING before he came up to us and after he passed, probably 25-30mph. You could hear him scraping bottom over big bumps far off into the woods because of his speed.

Not like you need sliders or a ton of clearance on Medano, but it was his attitude. More money than brains, and he was spending the money on bling and not stuff that would get him out of - or avoid - a jam. He was certainly driving like he could afford to fix whatever he would break.

Anyway, I’m not going on this run - me and my wimpy 33s (and shitty driver) can’t hang. But @DomOfTheDead your comment reminded of this dude so I thought I’d post.

Fun trail, haven’t been on that one in probably 15 years 😳
Have fun!
Matt and I have done it twice this year, both times on a Friday. Did I mention weekday wheeling rocks? Two rigs can make quick work of it.

Y'all have fun!

Mark
