Beautiful shots. Wish I could have joined for a least part of the adventure.

Last night in Creede. Raining of course, but fun to get out and enjoy the town. Stopped by the pizzeria after.

The next morning the plan was to head to Lake City. Just a few miles out of town, the 4runner started overheating. Pulled over to check things out. Randomly and thankfully, the Antlers Lodge had a room available. They got me in right away. After letting the 4runner cool down, found that it was a bit low of coolant. That afternoon while waiting for the truck to cool down, some thunder shook the room I was in, then a torrential downpour. Chalked that one up as a win and treated myself to a nice Salmon dinner.

Didn't mind the views as I took the 4runner out for a test drive.

Slumgullion Pass. A first for me.

Uncompahgre Peak, 14,321ft. I'd come back to this spot on Windy Point often.

Deer Lakes. Had originally planned to camp here. But with the 4runner overheating, I stayed in town to get things taken care of. Turned out to be a bad radiator cap.

Woke up early for my last morning in Lake City. Drove out to Windy Point to catch the Sunrise.

Along the North Rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Hoped to visit with my pal Jeremiah from Proffitt's Cruisers during this stretch, but they had a bunch of folks over for for there kiddo's bday.

Views from McClure Pass. One of my favorite paved passes.

More around Marble. This little town was a blast. Two businesses told me to mail a check, since they couldn't take a credit card. Mailed those in when I got home. Felt like I saw more wildlife in Marble then I did the whole trip. A bald Eagle flew over me at Beaver Lake while later I'd watch an otter swim by. Even later still, the local Fox passed by my camp. For all the years I've drove over McClure (usually in route to Proffit's, why was this my first time visiting Marble?

Took a drive up to the Marble Mine. Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Lincoln Memorial came from this mine.
