I am pretty stoked to go this year. I typically haven’t been able to because I am teaching , but not this year. Bring it on!

He’s asking how about handing out RS trail flags, like the ones required at Sand Hollow to identify CM participants.
Good idea but you’d have to make sure everyone has a mount for a flag prior
Won't it be ironic if it becomes hip to stick a 6 foot fiberglass identification mast on your truck for trail flags after convincing everyone to remove their 4 foot tall CB antennas?

Although I'd run these event flags like rank flags on a staff car personally.

I'm curious: how would this be helpful? What problem would having a flag solve? We started doing big magnets for trail leaders and gunners last year, and we will continue this for the 2022 event.

They look cool hanging on garage walls? Didn't they do them at FJ Summit?

I think at an event such as Easter Jeep they might be practical to show who's actually registered when grouping up at trail heads. But that whole situation is a Charlie Foxtrot comparatively.

Meh- I agree with Matt and don't see the need. As long as the leader and gunner are identified

Extra cost, extra hassle and little to no value and what do you do if someone doesn't have a place for the flag?

They're cool, functional, fun and a good keepsake. Inuksuk came up with a similar idea years ago during a cruiserfest run to Toole, Utah. Was helpful to keep an eye out for group members and was fun to see them all as they rolled into the event.

I don’t have any idea. Sand Hollow yes visibility. I didn’t suggest it, just clarifying what he was suggesting. Maybe a way to identify other participants and or a keepsake.

Mainly as a keepsake / identifier. Thought it could be a cool idea.

I always have one running around on my rig to keep my CB antenna from flapping too much.

I like the attempt to build some community/inclusion, similar to the name tags. But I would suspect they wouldn't get used unless required somehow, and who wants to be that guy? They do flags at the Solid Axle Summit... but I don't recall seeing many people using them. OTOH they also do beer koozies, and those get used quite a bit more. :)

Dates for Cruise Moab 2022 are
Wednesday, April 20 - Sunday, April 24, 2022
Pre-runs start on Monday, April 18

It's a week later next year because Easter is on Sunday, April 17.
So hopefully these are still the right dates but the cruise Moab page now says a different date can you clarify if I wasted a deposit on an Airbnb because you decide to change the dates or if these are still the right dates

Hi @BudKing - we have been working with the Old Spanish Trail Arena, the BLM, and the Grand County Special Events Commission. It looks nearly certain that we will be moving dates to the later week (so the dates on the website are correct). Hopefully it's not too late to get a refund on your deposit or move it to the following week. Our apologies for this — it was not something we were expecting.

I understand there’s a lot of coordinating with different agencies to put this event on and I do appreciate your hard work. And do understand things do change.

But it is frustrating to find out about the date change by happening to go onto the website with no official email for people that had made plans already.

You say it’s “nearly certain” that the dates will be changed when will this become an absolute change so that way I know whether to book another accommodation so I don’t lose out on another 400+ dollars
Thank you

Moab isn't the same as it was 20 years ago. We're filling out applications now that didn't even exist 5 years ago. Both the city of Moab and Grand County are now involved. It used to be that our BLM permit was the main requirement. Now that's just one of the items.

The next step is a Special Event Permit from Grand County. I'm working on it today. We have to include a Covid-19 plan with this, so it's not just a quick form. Once this is submitted, we'll have to wait for Grand County to approve it. I hope that's quick and easy, but knowing the government, it might not happen until January. Our contact at the Old Spanish Trail Arena says our event should get approved with no issue, but that's no guarantee.

We haven't announced any of this to the Cruiser community at large because it's not certain yet. I'm giving you information about what I *think* will happen. We did change the dates on the website since the 4th week of April is way more likely than the 3rd week of April at this point.

When we know the dates for sure, we will send an email to everyone on the Cruise Moab email list. Here's where to sign up if you are not already on the list.

We have made the official announcement on Cruise Moab 2022 dates. We sent an email to all 1500+ people on the Cruise Moab email list.
Here's what we said:

New dates for 2022...

Wednesday, April 27 - Sunday, May 1, 2022
Pre-runs start Monday, April 25

Are these new dates?
Yes. We had originally posted that Cruise Moab would be held the 3rd week of April. We had a miscommunication issue (our fault) with the Old Spanish Trail Arena, our HQ for the event — they had us in the calendar for the 4th week of April. We recently got approval from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for the new dates. We wanted to make sure you knew the new official dates now, in case you are planning on coming to the 2022 event.

What will Cruise Moab 2022 look like?
The last couple of years have been unusual to say the least:
  • The 2020 event was canceled for the first time ever due to the outbreak of COVID-19 a month before the event
  • Our 2021 event was a smaller, bare-bones, trail-run-only event with no vendor night, no group dinner, and no raffle. We had a great time running trails and hanging out by the campfire, of course.
We are excited to announce that we are planning for Cruise Moab to return to full awesomeness for 2022!That means:
  • All the trail runs, including multiple choices for overnight runs
  • Our biggest and best vendor night ever
  • A delicious BBQ group dinner
  • The famous raffle with top-notch prizes from the most prestigious 4x4 brands, outfitters, and shops
  • A massive campfire that will probably be seen from outer space
  • Unique swag and official merchandise, available only at the event
  • Camping right at the Old Spanish Trail Arena so you can hang out with old friends and make new ones. And yes, we're planning to have the shower truck again in 2022 so you can wash off the trail dust.
If that isn't enough, this is the 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF CRUISE MOAB! We have special things we're working on to make the 2022 event the best Cruise Moab ever. Seriously. You won't want to miss this one!

When will registration open?
We're planning to open registration on February 1, 2022. Don't worry, friend — you're already on our early notification list. We'll make sure you get a timely reminder in advance with all the details.

If someone forwarded this to you, join the Cruise Moab email list yourself so you don't miss a thing.

Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you in Moab in April 2022!
