That Los Pinos area is great. I live in Creede and make a point of going up on Los Pinos and finding a pullout and camping every year. There is a very small fraction of the people you'll see around Rio Grande Reservoir or Cinnamon/Engineer. A particular favorite is the little spur to the Cebolla Trail east end where you pick up the trail leading to Stewart Peak.

When in September... and what is stopping you from doing both?
My calendar, primarily. ;)

After driving the family down to Crested Butte last weekend, I might be pushing my Ouray/Telluride trip to next year. Such a long drive. 🤣

share around the campfire.
FYI, Hinsdale County (e.g. Lake City, et al) is under stage 1 fire restrictions. Right now at least Mesa, Delta, Montrose, Dolores, Pitkin, Eagle, Garfield, Rio Blanco, Hinsdale, Archuleta, La Plata, Montezuma, Ouray, San Juan, San Miguel counties all have restrictions. Make sure you have a propane fire ring if you're dispersed camping. I've been seeing people not adhering last weekend here in Mesa and two weekend ago in Rio Blanco but Ouray or San Juan had a fire start yesterday I think it was. It is very dry over here, please be careful.

I carry one camping everywhere. Unfortunately it's become a must in CO!

Me too. Seems like standard fare. We are planning another camping trip with neighbors and our plan is to go to the part of the state not on fire. Just something you have to assume these days

Alright all. Need to lock this in if we are doing this. Please sound off and lmk if you are locked in. If so, we can work out details over the next two days.

@Coyote @Shuksan how about you guys? @Fisher67 want to jump on a zoom tomorrow to discuss details? @FireMike @Burt88 well keep you posted on details.
I just got back in town today and unfortunately I have a pile of projects to try and get through this week and weekend so I have to bail. Sorry all, but just been out having too much fun recently

Just seeing this. If there’s room for a interloping Pig from Grand Junction may be able to join you. Looks like you’ll be passing right below our elk hunting area at the start. Where/when to meet up in Gunnison?

Looks like it's me @Celliottoz and @Fisher67 coming from out east. I just pinged both of them directly to lock in our plans. We would have room and would love to coordinate on a Gunnison meetup. These are tentative plans (will lock in before EOD) but I plan on leaving the Colorado Springs area around 1 or 2pm tomorrow and heading your way. That would put me in your area between 4 and 5pm.

Will try to hit Gunnison by 4p tomorrow. Assume you will be wanting to fuel up etc. If not we could meet you at the Hwy 50 junction with 114, if the plan is to head down the Saguache cutoff. If in Gunnison how about meeting at the city park on the right as you enter town?
Will PM you my cell.
