Here is my setup.....

- Pro-Ject Debut Carbon
- Peachtree Audio Decco 50 with built in tube pre-amp
- PSB bookshelf speakers
- SVS sealed subwoofer

The Peachtree only puts out 50W per channel, but matches the speakers really well. That combined with the sealed sub keeps the sound pretty tight. Listened to a little Elvis Costello last night.

That's amplifier is suhweet dude! I bet with a tube amp set up like that the clarity and warmth is great!

The main reason I got the amp for digital music streaming. It has a really nice built in DAC and the tube pre-amp warms it up even more. Plus side, it is also a great setup for vinyl.

How is that tribute album? Who's on it?
It was originally a CD-only release from 2006, so regular cast of alt.country-indie peps from back then. Haven't spun it yet so can't say. There's plenty on Discogs.

ETA: I really like the Kelly Willis cover, the Gin Blossoms did a faithful cover, pleasantly surprised but the Idle Wilds (not familiar with them). The Wilco cover sounds very Wilco. All-in-all I like it. It seems to have a couple of ticks on side B, not sure if it's a byproduct of being blue-white marble.

My original pressing, released in 1965, and like most Mercury Living Presence classical albums, is simply astounding in performance and sonics. I was trying to read while listening but the music just kept drawing me in and the book was set aside. Fantastic album and the reissue versions, no doubt, sound pretty good too. Better vinyl and 45rpm equals quieter pressings but magnetic tape loses information with age. Can't remember where I found this but I was buying lots of vinyl in the 80s and 90s when everyone was selling out for CDs. If you, like me, love Bach and the cello, you will be happy with the album. There is also a single Bach/Starker release available.

Dave got me thinking about Zappa and Captain Beefheart so tonight will include original pressings of Hot Rats and Trout Mask Replica. Way different vibe from last night! o_O

Bought the first album from The Presidents Of The United States of America on Kickstarter. Showed up a few days ago. This was not a super high fidelity recording in the first place, but it's a ton of fun. Sounds great.

I saw their Kickstarter and considered it. But just couldn't pull the trigger, I generally don't re-buy stuff I don't really, really like if I have it on CD already. I know #CDsux #waxisreal but, meh, it's OK. I run an vintage 1990s NEC CD-ROM drive into a Crystal 4398 DAC driving an ancient mil surplus G.E. JAN5670W, so it's at least burning some power wastefully when I listen to them.

And don't tell Steve but I still occasionally even buy a CD here and there when I find an interesting one used or there's no LP offered.

I'm not sure I have the CD anymore. I haven't had a CD player in 15 years. If I came across a good one, I'd probably buy it since I have some CDs that I'd like to listen to.

So I’m back in the vinyl game. Stopped into one of my local audio speciality stores and the only turntable they stock is this Yamaha. Haven’t seen anyone mention Yamaha when talking so what’s your thoughts? I like to support my local stores if at all possible. Plus all my other components have been from Yamaha for nearly 3 decades so I guess I’m a loyal consumer.

Otherwise I guess I’ll outsource a Pro-Jett Debut Carbon unless anyone can convince me otherwise.
