so when Gavin was 4, we built this really elaborate track for his Thomas trains... but then we got to the last piece and needed a small "double male" track piece to connect it all together. So I put him up on my knee, grabbed the mouse and the calipers, and proceeded to draw the double pokey part we needed.

I was hoping it would have had more of an impact, about how when you get an obstacle you find a solution, or about how you live in a world where you can create solutions, 3D printing, etc. Maybe it was too early, but a couple days later we were off and running on our new track, that sintered nylon double pokey piece worked exactly as designed...
