gm parts
when this gets hot the igniter stops working..
the symptom is it shuts off like you turned the key off, no stumble, just off and wont start.
cause there is no spark.
similar to I think Drews.
been doing it for a while now. I have had these parts for like a year...was going back and forth with it...
when the problem happens, it has to cool all the way off and will function again.
I have been looking for a new toyota igniter
I had the fj60 89620-60020 igniter with electronic pickup dizzy...they are nowhere to be had..and when they were they were several hundred dollars..
so I resorted to gm parts. cheap, plentiful, ugly.
I will work on either a new toyota assembly, or at least a better physical disguise of the gm parts eventually. but after sitting on the side of the road in boulder this morning for 45 minutes again, I decided to make it functional today.
so...
there are 4 leads on the gm ignition module..
b and c
w and g
1. switched 12v (black yellow from ignition) goes to b terminal
also wire from b to positive of the coil.
2. negative terminal on coil to c terminal of module
3. white signal wire from dizzy to w of module
4. red or pink signal from dizzy to g terminal of module.
now, the toyota coil will work with an asditional resistor I understand or a gm coil will work out of the box..
I used an aluminum gm heat sync to mount the module to the coil with the toyota bracket with thermal paste between the module and the heat sync
hopefully it lasts. if not its cheap, and available everywhere.
here are the pns and the ugly ass finished install
d1906 is the module
10474610 is the heat sink
u505 is the coil
