Default Christmas Tree Cutting Patrol w/ Colorado Land Cruisers

This is an annual event supported by Colorado Land Cruisers and a great opportunity to get your rig out in the snow and do some great community service.
Basic info: For the first two weekends in December which are Dec 5 and 6, Dec 12 and 13 the Colorado Land Cruisers patrol the Christmas Tree cutting area off Rampart Range road with the Forest Service.

We pull stuck cars out of the snow, locate lost hikers and lost vehicles and help the Forest Service with placing signs. We can use all of the help that you will offer. We can use up to 12 veicles per day. A minimum number of 4 per day really helps out.

We meet at the Western Gas station in Woodland Park and then procede to the Forest Service trailer or to the chain up area. Bring tire chains if you have them, lunch for yourself and any guests, normal trail equipment for cold weather runs. This is one of the main ways that we can help the Forest Service and maintain good relations with them.
For additional details as the evolve, see this post on the CLC sub-forum.

Great, it is always nice to do things with Colorado Land Cruisers (CLC) and Horsetooth Cruisers. CLC has a sign up on their website (which is hosted in IH8MUD) - just click here to post up and join in on the fun.

Tim...I wouldn't mind going down on the 12th to actually cut a tree. Not sure I can hang out all day, but we still need a tree for our house.

Here is a link to the forrest service site:
http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/psicc/pp/ppxmas/xmas.htm

I used to cut trees in Pike National forest every year when I lived in Co Springs. $10 bucks for a Charlie Brown tree...not bad!

I'm going to be out cutting a couple of trees on Sunday...when it supposed to be snowing...which will be perfect...

Not specifically heading out to support rescue, but could pitch in as needed so maybe I'll check out what is going on for that day

How much snow do they have up there now? Last year there wasn't much snow to talk about. Just curious, the 12th may work.
