Probably because they've been closed, there is nothing on these trails in the Traildamage.com website. What are they like compared to Chinaman's Gulch? You guys will have to be sure and get my cage/seat work done in time so the Mule is ready to go for this. ![]()

I believe that one of our members ran it in his stockish 80 series with lockers.
I'm planning on going and have a mostly stock 1st gen 4 runner w/ rear locker.

Are runs open to anyone, or is this just a club event, I drive a Toyota?

I see a lot of talk about the Chinaman run on this same day, is this run not going to happen and everyone going to that run?

Hackett Gulch used to be do-able in any stock Toyota 4x4, but since the fire, it may or may not be easy or harder. I have seen photos of what used to be the trail and the looked like it might be harder, but that was a couple years ago, maybe it has gotten easier since then. I haven't run that trail since the fire. Rising Sun worked hard with CUSP to help mitigate erosion in that area after the fire. If the group needs to turn around and go back up the hill, I have done that also, and it is challenging but not too difficult, just pick your lines and make sure you have momentum when you need it. I will be leading Bill Moore Lake Trail that day, but look forward to doing Hackett Gulch Trail again this year! Happy cruisin'!

I want to do the others too, but this one seems that it might not always be around and it is the closest to me.
I'm in. |

Should be about 45 minutes from you.

Interesting - Hackett and Chinaman are both around 2 hours from Denver to the Trailhead, depending on what part of town you are coming from. Bill Moore may not be super-challenging, but it is a lot closer and is always beautiful.

sounds like a great trip, I guess im the un-official Trail leader, and actually ive never been on these trails (I did not have a 4x4 when they where open
)Any In site would be appreciated by those who have run these trails, Its my understanding that since the Park County Portions are Not Open, its no longer a loop, so do we want to run Hackett, or Longwater. then if time permits run the other? |
