Default recovering a license?

So, now that I have a truck in the process of being built, I realized I need to get my HAM stuff back in order. The only problem being, I can't find my license or any paperwork/emails relating to its existence. I'm not having any luck on the FCC site either. I'm not even sure if I'm within the grace period for a renewal. It's been a little while.

Has anyone had to do this? If it has expired, does it just disappear or is the call sign still valid?

The license is good for 10 years. The FCC search site: http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsS...chAdvanced.jsp
allows you to search for expired licenses as well as active ones. You should be able to search by name.

edit: is it KJ6LDF?

The grace period to reactivate a license is 2 years after the expiration date. After that you can file a waiver application to have it reinstated but it's unlikely that will happen, so usually you have to take the test again.

Looks like once you log in here, http://wireless.fcc.gov/uls/index.htm?job=home, you can renew online. You'll need your FRN number.

I'm trying to see if they let you download a copy of the license but it just looks like they mail a paper copy. I'll have to wait for my address update to go through then try again.

In the meantime, I'll start thinking about places to mount an FT-857D and start studying for my General upgrade. I've got a nice long flight tomorrow where I can start reading up again.

edit: found the download. for those interested it's under the 'Download Activations' link.
