Has anyone coordinated this with the Utah VHF Society? It looks fine to me, just curious.

All,
I have not done any proper coordination but have endeavored to keep it in line by studying the various web postings of the clubs and repeater operators.

I did run APRS last year and at least a few others were as well. Hope to see more this year!

I have not updated the band plans for CM2017 yet it will be unchanged where possible but we have some trail changes and last year it was reported that Jax was stepping on a repeater output... Guess I better get on that.

ya, the repeater in Monticello is 146.610- and Jax is close to that.

Everyone,
Here is my draft for the 2017 CM band plan.
I've eliminated a couple of unnecessary duplicates and moved the Jax Trax frequency well away from the Monticello repeater.

Any feedback or observations are welcome, I think this should work:

For 2017 DRAFT:
Trail / 2m / CB
Arches Family Fun 147.420 28
Chicken Corners 146.480 25
Cliff Hanger 147.400 5
Dome Plateau 145.610 26
Elephant Hill 145.650 6
Fins and Things 147.440 7
Flatiron Mesa 146.580 27
Golden Spike 147.480 10
Hells Revenge 147.500 11
Jax Trax 146.420 14
Kane Creek Canyon 147.520 12
Kokopelli Overnight 147.540 13
Metal Masher 147.560 24
Moab Rim 147.580 15
Poison Spider Mesa 145.510 16
Porcupine Rim 145.530 17
Pritchett 145.550 18
Seven Mile Rim 145.590 21
Swell Overnight 145.570 20
Top OT World 147.460 8
Wipe Out Hill 145.630 23

HQ/BASE CAMP 146.460 4

Note that in the distant past an effort was made to use 2m frequencies that were common to both Utah and Colorado. Today there are too many trails and too little overlap so we follow the Utah 2m band plan and overlap with Colorado only as possible. The remaining exception is the Kokopelli which must use a simplex frequency that's in line with both CO and UT band plans.

Thanks all,

Did anybody notice any problems with the band plan last week in Moab? I haven't heard of any yet but if you find any please post up.

Thanks all,

CB Channel 28 on the Arches run had a lot of ridiculous trucker traffic from I-70. It was pretty obvious that they were on illegal radios. We only heard 2 or 3 of them transmitting and couldn't pick up any of the replies, but it was pretty constant. At one point we started making fun of them because they sounded so much like Boomhauer from King of the Hill. We started talking like them and it was great fun, but it was extremely annoying nonetheless.

Yeah man, I tell ya what, man, that dang ol' CB chatter, man, you just go in on there and tune and keyup, talk about 10-4-buddy-smokey-git-git-over-roger-over, mean you got the wild truck chicks on there, man, just go yee-haw, click, bang, boom, it's real easy, man.

Sounds like fun and irritation in one, I'll see if we can drop 28 next time around.
