Default Sunday Sept 3rd Coney Flats

First, Thanks for the great suggestion UB. I wanted to try something new and that was a fun trail. We started at Beaver Reservoir and turned towards Camp Dick at the St Vrain Sign. That's probably fun as well, maybe next time.

Trail is moderate with what we are use to (Moab, Rubicon, Chinamans) and maybe difficult for others. I saw both ratings looking on line. Very rocky all the way through with some bigger rock obstacles, nothing rock crawler big though. As we were exiting into Camp Dick they had built a Rock obstacle. Kind of saying, " If you can't get over this, you can't go on this trail"

There were 5 Trucks. Rachel and her Fiance Wes , Dave and Kirsten, Dennis and Diane from Kansas, Jeff and me and my dogs

There was also lots of water. This trail would be very interesting during Spring runoff or early June

Thanks for making the open call Ken. We had a good time. Ended up having lunch with Dennis and Diane at Smokin' Dave's in Lyons. Very nice and interesting people. I hope they make an account here and keep in touch so we get another opportunity to see them on the trail.

I'd call it a moderately difficult trail. Nothing a typically modified truck can't do but it sure helps to have spotting and I'd not want to run it without sliders. The Camp Dick gatekeeper is a good test. A couple obstacles get you pretty twisted so I imagine running Camp Dick to Camp Tahoma might benefit from a locker but I never felt I needed to engage mine in the direction we ran.

The only significant damage was a few new dents in the stock tin skids on Donna the Taco and Dennis was saying he had a clicking on the inner tulip on his driver's side CV axle. That may have happened earlier in the week, though. They ran Miner's Gulch and Pickle Gulch solo.

Nice! When the water is higher there is just more places it sits. The crossing gets a little deeper but still doable as long as you avoid the bow wake. The trail opens late after the snow is gone and the ground stabalizes. Huge thanks to Trailridge Runners who's hard work with BRD keeps it open!

UB, what did we miss on St Vrain? Is it similar to Coney Flats?

Did it the weekend prior with a stock 3rd Gen Runner and a minimal lifted 2017 Dodge Ram. Stock vehicles do it daily.

Couple more puddles and more bumps. The rest of the trail to the west is maybe 1/3 more miles and dead ends at the Buchanan Pass trail head.

You can add to the adventure by turning onto the Bunce School Road. That is between Peaceful Valley campground and Camp Dick Campground.

If thinking it would be nice to have a spotter and sliders through the obstacles means I'm weenie, so be it. Yes, I doubt I'd make it *up* (we went down) the rock garden in the middle without a locker. The gearing in my truck just isn't low enough to walk up that without cooking the clutch if a wheel lifted.

So, yup, like I told Jeff at the start I don't mind being a gunner since I'm slow and the actual good drivers can be in front to tug me through. I think calling it stock friendly is misleading. It's can be done in a stock truck but your success will depend on skill (mine is none) and tolerance for potential damage (mine is low). I'd think doing it solo without sliders would almost definitely end up with a dented rocker.
