This was after I broke...... Riding shotgun wasn't bad though.

That shot was Baby Lion's Back. I like going up there for photos every year. Amazing spot.

I broke the ring gear up front on Rose Garden. Long story, but we lost Chris (my gunner and spotter) the day before to a bad brake booster so there was no way he was coming down Rose Garden Hill with us. I didn't have anyone to spot me down the toughest section and my legs were not cooperating as well as I would have hoped. I couldn't power brake or use both feet and I was having a hard time using the brake to control the ATRAC. Just bad luck and a little too jumpy on the throttle when I got stuck. It was really hard for me to feel the pressure on pedal. I'm not nearly as graceful as I used to be.

As you would expect from a group of TLCA members, I was quickly pushed aside to ensure I wasn't doing any of the wrenching. All I had to do was give out some tips on how to get the 100 into 2wd. Consequently enough, another friend was the guy on the Spike run who broke on Butt Scratcher... so I was able to pay it back by helping him get into 2wd before heading back to Denver. (all I did was the cone washers, grease cap and give out some tips)

Of course I'm bummed to have a broken rig, but getting out on the trail under beautiful sunny skies with fantastic folks was exactly what I needed. Sometimes you break stuff, we all know how that goes. I care 10x's less about stuff like that than I used to. I led an amazing trail and got around pretty well for 7 days. Who cares about anything else?

Wow, cool stories. Didn't you have some issue with your 100 front diff in the past?

That photo is beyond excellent. Lighting, contrast, saturation, composition are all there, but to get that many people to simultaneously have good photogenic posture and expressions is really rare.
